[News - International] - New Apple iPhone specs leaked online

The specifications for the new iPod have apparently been leaked online.

The details of the new handset, expected to be launched next month, suggest Apple will upgrade the new phone to 16GB and 32GB sizes, doubling the current model’s storage, and will also double the processor speed and RAM capacity.

The camera is being upgraded from the current two megapixels to 3.2 according to the specifications on the AppleiPhoneApps blog, which cited sources close to the hardware development team.

Battery life is said to have been extended by 50 per cent, in part down to a new OLED screen that replaces the LCD model.

Apple is expected to keep the price the same for both models, $199 and $299, which is in line with past practice.

The design of the phone is also changing according to the details. The metal band around the handset will go and the back of the phone will be rubberised with a glowing Apple logo.

Other improvements include the ability to record and edit video, a digital compass and a new service with Google Maps tied into the unit’s GPS system.

Rumours of new Apple products are never commented on by the company but the details are similar to those published on a Chinese message board earlier this year.
